Tropical fusion bloghop - Welcome

Hello there,  and welcome to my little slice of Tropical Heaven.

If you have reached me, you have either come directly to me from the lovely Lesley Todd's page, or you have found me completely randomly.

Either way, I'm happy you stopped by.

I LOVED this years theme for the Blog-hop, I think Pantones colour of the year is fabulous, very bright and inviting, just like my patterns.

I have supplied my requested 3 designs, minimum requirements for this weekends antics. I had fun playing with the colours, the motifs and the patterns.

Because Patterns are just amazing.

I LOVE doing mocks ups for my patterns... here's some lovely notebooks.

Have fun, enjoy browsing, and head on over the the fabulously talented Trina E's Blog. I imagine its super fantastic, I know she spent weeks working on these designs.

A Few Links for you, just in case you are lost:

COMING SOON!!!!! Pin Hop!

                                                                   The Pin hop story
This January a group of designers got together and created a pattern design blog hop, which turned out a great success!  But looking through more than 50 separate designers blogs took ages!
So, after that weekend they started a serious discussion: How to keep the idea and creative input of a blog hop, but make it easier to pick and mix and find just your favorites? The answer was, of course, Pinterest!
Where else can the visitor get a quick overlook and  pick out exactly want they want to see, without going through every link in a chain? And all designs are clickable, taking the visitor directly to the designers blog, to see the whole portfolio. On pinterest you can also make comments, share, like, and save to your own favorites. Perfect for all visual artists!
So here it is, the first ever Pattern design Pin hop!
On saturday, June 15, close to 50 designers will be presenting brand new designs via a special Pinhop board located on the Find New Designers pinterest site.
There will be full collections presented by those designers own web sites or blogs but the main design you can pin to your own board.
They will pin their best interpretations of 4 different themes from an A/W 13-14 brief (by Patternbank.com) to this unique board!

This board is hosted by Find New Designers, a fast growing directory of independent professional print and pattern designers
This pin hop is organized by Tina Olsson, who sells her design under the name FYLLAYTA
Hope to see you on the PIN HOP THIS Saturday June 15th!!!!

Thanks to Tigerprint for this little feature on todays blog:

BLOG HOP- Welcome

Well, Hello there....

You are probably joining me from the fabulous blog of Mary Tanana, also known as Groovity Designs. I love Mary's designs, they are so bright, bold and vivid. What a fabulous collection she created.

Before I talk a little bit about myself, I'd just like to thank Rosie of Believe Creative Studio for curating this fantastic event, and also to MajoBV for designing the fabulous Flyer.

Okay, time for me to shine.

My collection was inspired by the theme of 'flight', and influenced by Pantone's 2013 colour 'emerald'. I also needed to create a collection of Valentines designs to be sent to the printers in time for the big day (14th February in the UK).

Lets kill 2 birds with one stone, I thought.
(Pun Intended)

The Brief said 3 designs to create a mini collection. But I'll be honest, I struggled to reign myself in and stop. So here we have 4, one with several colour variations.

Naughty me.

So, What will I be doing with these designs? Seems a shame to just leave them sat in a file on my computer, don't you agree?

The colours are very on trend, and the theme is currently relevant, given its valentines day soon.

But I also think they could be used for many 'female' occasions...

Mothers Day, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Well Wishes etc.

So this is what I came up with:

Blank Notebooks

These are now available to buy in my Etsy store, and I shall be expanding the range to Keyrings, cushions, coasters, fridge magnets in the very near future.

Anyway, I've shared enough eye candy with you for now. Time to pass you forward to the brilliant Cara Holland of Pattern Booth

Enjoy the rest of the Bloghop, and please please do follow right through until the end, it's really worth the time and effort. There's too much talent amongst this bunch to miss even one blog.

NOTE: This blog runs until Sunday Midnight.

Passion For Pattern Bloghop

If you are on the Passion for Pattern blog-hop today, you’ve probably just joined in from the wonderful blog of Cara Holland. After you have read my post, please make sure to visit Sarah Paris , she has some FABULOUS work to show you. If you have only just found the hop, pop on over to Claire’s blog where you can start from the beginning and join in the fun!

Today I am going to give you a preview of some ABSPD work that I have been creating as part of Module 3. Find out more information about the course HERE.

This Collection was created via a Mini Exercise to create a collection that didn't include Florals, Which is one of my two favourite things to draw. The other being Geometrics, so naturally I began creating. It all started with one design, and then 3 co-ordinates:
:a simplified design
       :a simplified colour way
       :a simple border pattern
Once I had completed the task I simply kept on going, creating 9 fabulous pieces, which I am sharing with you for the very First time. I hope to license/sell this collection, at some point in the near future.

Here it is:

This Design Will Hopefully become part of a Tea Towel Collection:

Thanks For Visiting, please feel free to visit my Portfolio page for more Designs available for License.

Thanks For Visiting.
