Kickstarter Campaign

Kickstarter Campaign Mark 2

Hello and welcome to my attempt at pitching my latest project to you, my lovely blog readers and followers.

Say hello to potentially the next range of products, for sale by JLWIllustration. If successfully funded (£475) I will have a small selection of Mugs, matching coasters and Pocket Mirrors on sale in My Etsy Store, available for you to purchase as gifts for loved ones, or simply to make your life a little more fun.

Cause lets face it, these patterns rock!

I have had a sample of the products whipped up by the various outlets that will be manufacturing them, if they succeed in being produced. In fact, the Pocket Mirror shown below, is currently available in my Etsy Store, but I only have a few left, so fingers crossed I can get more made up for you.

BTW: the quality of the mug is AMAZING! I've been drinking and washing it daily, I can't seem to put it down.

So here is the boring details on the project, feel free to share this, or ask me for a higher resolution file, I'm happy to provide.

HOW?

By Pledging a small amount of your money, you can
help me achieve my dream of creating a small range
of products with my designs on. Payment is only
taken IF the campaign is successfully funded.
(If £475 has been pledged within the given time).
No Payment will be taken until AFTER the deadline and notice will be given beforehand.  In return, I offer you a reward, a gift of thanks for helping me in my adventures.

... basically, the more you pledge, the bigger the thank you gift. It's that simple.

Support by pledging: £3, £4, £5, £8, £10, £15 or £25

'I'd really LOVE to see this project succeed. This is a combination of hard work and serious research, and I would love to see it come to fruition and have something solid at the end of it'. - ME

If you do so wish to Pledge a small amount (Even £1.00), please feel free to head on over to my Kickstarter page and complete the quick form filling exercise, or visit my website for a direct link.

It's as simple as that.

Thank you for reading and sharing.

Post Maternity Leave

Well Hello, it's been a while. I've had some time away to have my 4th child, who arrived 8 days late on 7th September 2013. He's beautiful, amazing and totally worth the wait.

So even in my absence, I have still been busy behind the scenes. I've a few things to share with you which I'm sure is more exciting for me than it is for yourselves, but I'm sharing anyway.

1. I am now a member of the MOYO DIRECTORY

There is quite a large catalogue of designers on there, and I'm squished amongst them. So if you get the chance, take a peek at some of my collections, and let em know what you think and don't forget to <3 font="" me="" nbsp="" too:="">

2. The second edition of the Little White book has gone live, alongside the Find New Designers Website, to which I am also a member of.
Again, there are quite a few other amazing designers on there, but I am proud of Gill for spending the hundreds of (wo)man hours in completing it. So well done Gill, you've done a cracking job.

My profile can be found here:

3. I've been working hard alongside Keka Cases to get the templates completed for some new products. Now I have available 10 iPad/Kindle cases to purchase directly from the Keka website and they now ship to the UK.

But the exciting news is that soon you will all be able to purchase my designs on iPhone and Samsung cases too.

And on AMAZON UK!!!

I am one of the designers selected by Amazon and Keka cases to have my designs released first. That is amazing news for me.

4. Finally I have recently found out that I will be published in the up and coming ' New Pattern' book. More details coming soon about this.

Until next time.

Kickstarter Project Launch - 2014 Calendars

EXCITING NEWS!!!!!

I applied to start a Kickstarter Project a few days ago, and it has been approved and ready for backing.

Now don't panic, if you are unfamiliar with Kickstarter, have a look here and take a peek at what it is all about. Alternatively, have a read below:

So in a nutshell...

I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

The basic principle of kickstarter, is that you pledge an amount to back me in my project.

Lets say for example you wanted to offer £10 of your own money, to help me produce a range of 2014 Calendars....

What do you get out of it??

Well, that depends, as there are various lovely rewards for helping me (see my project page for more details).

A sample of the A4 wall calendar - Pledge £7 to receive one of these.
Here is an example:
For £10, you would be rewarded with a Desktop Calendar download, perfect for using as a background, or printing out and hanging on your wall, and an A3 Family Planner, which will be printed and delivered to your door
 by September 2013.

So you win too.

A2 double-sided Wall Planner - Pledge £5 to receive one of these

The idea is,  you help me, and you shall be rewarded

Now, here is the catch... I have a specific amount in mind to produce these calendars.... £750 to be exact, and if I don't raise all the funds by the deadline (1st August, Midnight), then I don't receive ANY of the money, and my dreams of releasing a range of 2014 calendars will go POOF!

Samples of Slimline Wall Calendar - Pledge £7 to receive one of these
So no pressure to help me.....

On the plus side, if you do kindly pledge an amount
(even £1 is awesome btw), you don't pay a thing, until after the deadline, when (if successful) you will receive an invoice with 2 week to pay up. Then I get paid... and BAM!!!

We have some fabulous Calendars.

Sample of Family Planner with space for 5 people + additional section for Birthdays and Appts.
Pledge £10 to receive one of these

So What do you say, Fancy helping a girl out???

and if you can't help... Please do spread the word.

Pin-Hop Welcome!

Hello and Welcome to my little slice of design paradise.

You are probably here as a result of the Pin-hop over on pinterest, and you liked the design I pinned over there.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Pin-hop Story:

This January a group of designers got together and created a pattern design blog hop, which turned out a great success!  But, looking through more than 50 separate designers blogs took ages!
So, after that weekend they started a serious discussion: How to keep the idea and creative input of a blog hop, but make it easier to pick and mix and find just your favorites? The answer was, of course, Pinterest!
Where else can the visitor get a quick overlook and  pick out exactly want they want to see, without going through every link in a chain? And all designs are clickable, taking the visitor directly to the designers blog, to see the whole portfolio. On pinterest you can also make comments, share, like, and save to your own favorites. Perfect for all visual artists!

Below you will find more designs I created using this 2013-2014 trend board as a source of inspiration.

I stuck with the colours provided as they go against the 'norm' of what I usually like to use, and really wanted to push my boundaries of colour.

If you click on any of the designs above, they will take you to my 'Find New Designers' board, which showcases more of my work.

But remember, you need to head back over to Pinterest and check out what other amazing talent is on offer too.

While you are here, why not check out what the fabulous Wini Dougall's has to offer on her website?

Comments and feedback is greatly appreciated, or even just a hello, to let me know you popped by.

Have fun with the Hop.

These were for the 'sock-it-to-me' competition. I realise I shared the sock versions with you, but they look so much prettier in pattern, don't you agree?

Currently an entry in this weeks (April 2013) 'sailing' competition. The colours were restricted but I think they work well for a children's print

Blog Swap - Welcome Decorque

New Year, New Blog Feature.

Today I Welcome My First Contributor To My (Hopefully) Regular BLOG-SWAP. I Have Been Followed By, And Following Decorque For Some Time Now On Twitter, And Have Had A Lot Of Interaction With Them. Decorque Already Feature Other Designers On Their Blog And If You Head On Over There Now, You Will Find My Feature Today On Their Blog And That Of Other Talented Designers.

Hello, this is Harriet R Stevens – designer at Decorque. Firstly we would like to say a huge Thank You to Jennie for having us on her blog and agreeing to a series of contributor posts & blog swaps with us, on all things creative! Looking forward to plenty more exciting posts!

So I guess you are all wondering who we are and what Decorque is all about? Well here’s a little bit our business and what inspires us!

Decorque is a family-run business which launched in September 2012 – comprising of a talented team of four that manage all areas of the business; from graphic design, eCommerce & SEO, social media & surface pattern design. We are pretty lucky to have such a multi-talented team with diverse skills!

Decorque’s founder & head designer Lesley Rudman Stevens has been working in the textile and fashion industry all her life, and decided to apply her unique and highly decorative fashion-led designs to home, wall art & stationery products through an eCommerce business.

Decorque aims to bring new, different products to the market, such as our Cork placemat & coaster ranges. We digitally print our designs onto the eco-friendly, premium cork surface to create hard wearing, heat resistant, and practical yet warm & beautiful decorative items for the home. Bet you haven’t seen anything like this range before!?

We turn this……into this.

Alongside these, we also take our designs onto Opaline Plastic placemats, Art Prints, Greetings Cards & Tags, and we are now expanding into coordinating Office products.

We are always inspired, whether that be through fashion or interior trends, graphic design, things we find on Pinterest, artists or via other retailers, for example. The main thing you can say about Decorque is that we LOVE pattern! We also love to combine media – by mixing hand drawn & painted elements with Photoshop & Illustrator components to create that unique design full of depth & interest. We like to take surface pattern to a new level!

We have been working hard over the last few months to build our brand awareness and will continue to expand our ranges into 2013. Along the way we have had the opportunity to work alongside some hugely creative and inspiring individuals and small businesses, and have formed a strong network of creatives who inspire us daily! We’d like to thank them all for their continued support and look forward to more collaborations this year.

We currently sell on our website, through etsy and folksy as well as partaking in offline craft, gift & art fairs in our local area. We will be looking to expand our outlets over the next year or so, and welcome any creative & licensing opportunities, also if you fancy a creative read, please do visit our successful blog, covering all creative topics as well as features by other designers, like the lovely Jennie, whose post is live NOW!
